Road safety coalition transitioning to full-time nonprofit

With a rising traffic count and similarly rising fatality rate, promoting road safety in the thriving Permian Basin oil patch is becoming a full-time job.

That was the conclusion of those involved in the Permian Road Safety Coalition, which is becoming a full-time nonprofit organization.

“(Oil field) activity is increasing and with that activity, traffic incidents are increasing. Making this a full-time organization, we’ll have a steady drumbeat about road safety not just for the industry but for everyone,” Scott Scheffler, who will serve as the coalition’s executive director, said in a phone interview.
